I Will Bear Witness: A Diary of the Nazi Years, 1933-1941 (Modern Library Paperbacks)
Victor Klemperer
Folio Society
| This is the only diary by an adult which chronicles a Jew's experience during the entire duration of the Third Reich. This remarkable volume records, year by year, the gradually increasing opression, from the viewpoint of a private person who set out to record the everyday and trivial aspects of the ordeal, figuring history would well document the larger story. The diary is a very interesting read, from beginning to end - some of the best WWII material I have ever encountered. |
