She is an early example of the Science-Fantasy/Adventure genre, and as such is firmly entrenched as a classic. Even in this jaded age, used to adventure movies which are hyperbolic collections of special effects, this novel is still a good, entertaining read. The title character, 2000 year old Ayesha, is a true femme fatale, yet a complex character not bound by monochromatic circumscription.
